Extracts from George's farewell advice to Frank

These are extracts from the advice Jane's father gave Frank before his voyage to India in December 1788. The fuller printed text appears in the memorandum thread. Life and Letters quotes two separated passages: the paragraph break here does not mean that they followed one another in George's original.

George Austen to Francis William Austen
DEC 1788

your good mother, brothers, sisters and myself will all exult in your reputation and rejoice in your happiness.

I have nothing more to add but my blessing and best prayers for your health and prosperity, and to beg you would never forget you have not upon earth a more disinterested and warm friend than your truly affectionate father, Geo. Austen.
